Hydraulic mulching heads
for excavators from 4,5 to 11 t.
Hydraulic brush cutters for excavators ranging from 4,5 to 11 metric tons are designed for professional landscaping maintenance, as well as for clearing slopes, embankments, ditches, and overgrown areas. The range includes models for cutting twigs, brambles, shrubs, and woody material, with a shredding capacity of up to 12 cm in diameter, offering high performance, durability, and reliability even under the most demanding working conditions.
CHASSIS
IN STRENX® AND HARDOX® STEEL
The internal structure of Berti’s hydraulic mulching heads
for excavators is made from Strenx® and/or Hardox® steel,
high-strength materials with a low density that ensure an
excellent balance between strength, flexibility and structural
precision.
Each housing is designed to ensure long-term durability.
The use of Strenx® and/or Hardox® results in a lighter
structure that is nonetheless resistant to torsional stresses,
improving the machine’s manoeuvrability and reducing
overall wear. The attention to detail in construction and the
experience Berti has gained over decades of design make
the bodies of its excavator mulching heads a benchmark for
quality, reliability and robustness – essential characteristics
for those who work daily in difficult conditions and require
consistent performance over time.
CAST IRON
GEAR-DRIVEN HYDRAULIC MOTOR
The cast iron hydraulic gear motor is a design choice that
combines robustness, reliability and consistent performance
over time.
Cast iron, thanks to its high mechanical strength, ensures
greater durability even under the most demanding working
conditions, reducing wear on internal components. The rigid
structure of the motor housing allows it to withstand the
pressure peaks typical of applications on mulchers without
deformation, whilst its good heat dissipation capacity keeps
the oil temperature stable, improving the overall efficiency
of the hydraulic system.
Operation is also smooth and quiet, thanks to the precision
of the gears, with the advantage of lower vibrations and
reduced maintenance over time. In summary, the cast iron
hydraulic motor offers reliability, continuous operation
and a long service life – essential characteristics for
those requiring professional performance and safety in all
operating conditions.
PISTON HYDRAULIC
MOTOR
The piston motor offers a solution that combines high
performance, reliability and precision of operation, even
in the most demanding applications. Its ability to convert
hydraulic energy into mechanical energy enables high
torque to be achieved, which is directly proportional to the
pressure difference between high and low pressure. Due to
these characteristics, the piston motor is fitted to hydraulic
brush cutters for excavators where high pressures, high
performance and continuous operation are required. In
these applications, drainage is essential to ensure correct
operation. In summary, the piston motor offers power,
efficiency and reliability, making it the perfect solution for
high-performance applications.
VARIABLE-DISPLACEMENT
HYDRAULIC MOTOR
The automatic variable displacement piston motor is the
solution that combines efficiency, high performance and
operational adaptability, even in the most demanding
operating conditions. It is capable of delivering both high
torque at low speed (maximum displacement) and high
speed at low load (minimum displacement), adapting
instantly to different operational requirements. Compared
to fixed-displacement hydraulic piston motors, AVT motors
offer significant advantages:
• Superior energy efficiency, reducing energy loss.
• Better power control and torque variation.
• Lower fuel consumption and reduced wear on
transmission components.
• Optimal adaptability to variable workloads.
In these applications, automatic displacement control
ensures reliability and improved dynamic response
throughout the entire operating cycle. The AVT motor,
combined with the exclusive Berti Fluid Box valve block
designed for these motors, offers the ideal solution for
maximising the performance of the brush cutter.
BERTI FLUID-BOX
CONTROL VALVE BLOCK
The Berti Fluid Box system is designed to optimise the
performance of the brush cutter by constantly monitoring
the main operating parameters. Thanks to its integrated
functions:
• It regulates the oil flow rate, setting the maximum quantity
directed to the motor and preventing overloads and rotor
overspeed.
• It limits the maximum operating pressure, protecting the
motor from pressure spikes caused by sudden loads.
• It facilitates the stopping of the rotor when the machine is
switched off, improving operational safety.
• It prevents cavitation in the hydraulic system, maintaining
the system’s efficiency over time.
Berti Fluid Box: simple, intelligent and reliable technology
that ensures consistent performance and a long service life
for your mulching heads for escavator.
ROTORS
& TOOL HOLDERS
The tube, produced by extrusion, requires no welding and is
therefore seamless – a guarantee of strength and reliability.
This manufacturing process provides enhanced resistance
to accidental impacts.
Square recess tool holders – why is this better?
When it comes to shredding, each design detail makes a
difference. The tool holder is one such detail.
The choice between a hexagonal and a square recess affects
not only the shape, it directly affects the holding strength
and clamping of the component.
This design feature translates into increased reliability,
durability, and operational safety.
The square recess allows for a more precise and stable
mechanical connection between the tool (hammer or knife)
and the holder.
This means:
• No play between parts, ensuring longer life of the holderbolt
connection.
• Reduced risk of slippage or rotation of the bolt.
• Greater resistance to dynamic and torsional stresses.
Each Berti rotor is tested and balanced at high speeds to
ensure top-quality performance.
FORESTRY
ROTORS
Every Berti rotor is created from a supply chain that is
monitored at every stage, from design to final balancing.
We use high-quality steel, precision-machined in our
factories to ensure maximum strength and durability.
Every component is the result of a production process with
attention to the smallest details. Every rotor we produce is
tested and balanced. This is how every Berti machine offers
the reliability and safety that professionals in the sector
expect in all working conditions.
Within the forestry range, Berti offers three different rotor
configurations, designed to meet different operational
needs.
The mobile hammer rotor is the most versatile solution: upon
impact with hard surfaces, the hammers retract, absorbing
the shock and maintaining the rotor’s inertia. This allows for
smooth and efficient working even on mixed terrain or in the
presence of exposed rock.
The fixed tooth rotor, on the other hand, is designed to
offer maximum power and precision on grass and wood,
guaranteeing up to 30% more productivity than mobile
rotors.
